Capturing the character of individual people is a very personal thing, like how you prefer your eggs cooked. There is not much room for error, only right or wrong. My main concern is to get the "eyes" right, whether in pastel - oil - acrylic or watercolour,then the rest of the face generally follows  How about commissioning Helena to paint a portrait of your grandchild - they grow so fast!
